2020 A YEAR TO UNIFY THE CHURCH IN WORSHIP AND PRAYER FOR SPIRITUAL AWAKENING IN KANSAS CITY
In the Spring of 2019, through a series of events and prayer meetings, the Pray KC leadership team (previously Citywide Prayer Movement) began to sense God calling the Church in Kansas City to pray for spiritual awakening in 2020.
As the second half of 2019 began to unfold, a measurable hunger for God's presence began to rise in the Church across our city. An uncommon longing for spiritual awakening began to fill prayer meetings and citywide gatherings. Finally, on October 4th, 2019, at Colonial Presbyterian Church, Pray KC hosted an unprecedented night of worship and prayer. The Citywide Prayer Movement was named "Pray KC," and we collectively set our hearts, as one unified Church, to prioritize God's presence over everything in the coming year.
October 4th, 2019 embodied the very heartbeat of the Pray KC vision. It was a multigenerational, multiethnic, and multi-denominational gathering of hungry worshippers of Jesus Christ ready to press into their holy discontent (the distance between "Heaven now" and the reality of the world all around us) with new patterns of contending for personal and corporate renewal - God's presence making us, and everything, FULLY ALIVE IN CHRIST.
We are turning our hearts to contend as a unified Church for spiritual awakening in Kansas City
In 2020 Pray KC will organize four large, catalytic worship nights called "Pray KC Worship Nights" at each quarter of the year. Hundreds of people will gather to pour out their hearts in worship and intercession for renewal in our own hearts, and the city.
In addition to these gatherings, we are calling for the formation of hundreds of “Prayer Circles” - small groups of 2-20 people gathering as prayerful friends on mission to pray anywhere and pray everywhere for spiritual awakening all over Kansas City. (You can learn more about the vision of Prayer Circles here). Church history has shown us that nearly every single revival in Church history had its origins in small groups of people who seek God out of a holy discontent to see heaven break in to make wrong things right.
2020 promises to be an unprecedented year of worship and prayer all across Kansas City. We are ready to welcome and host you and your friends, as together we welcome and host the presence of God.
